Joan Dziezyc, DVM, Diplomate ACVO
Dr. Dziezyc graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine, Cornell University in 1978. She worked in mixed animal practices in New York and Florida before starting residency training in comparative ophthalmology with Drs. Kirk Gelatt and Dan Wolf at the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Florida in 1982.
Dr. Dziezyc worked in ophthalmic specialty practice at the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Florida, and private specialty practice in New England before joining the faculty of the Department of Small Animal Clinical Studies at Texas A&M University in 1986 and working as a staff ophthalmologist at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
Dr. Dziezyc was president of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists in 2001 and has been active on various committees of the organization.
Her clinical and research interests focus on ophthalmic surgery and cataract surgery in horses, intraocular lens development in human ophthalmology and vision in horses.
She is married to Dr. Nick Millichamp with whom she shares the daughters and pets. Joan has a Welsh Cobb that she rides and is teaching to pull a cart. Her other interests outside of work include bird watching, dog agility, needlepoint and trying to keep orchids alive.
